Wanna hear the baby's heart beat?

Michael and I recently rented an instrument called a doppler. Basically it's a microphone attached to a speaker that can pick up the baby's heart beating when we use it with a little jelly on my tummy! The picture here, is what it looks like.

At first it was difficult to find the babies heart beating. I spent a really long time moving the doppler very slowly around my stomach and finally I found it. The babies heart beat is about twice as fast as my heartbeat is. And kind of sounds like a galloping horse!

Having the doppler is GREAT. It allows Michael and I to check in on the baby, now that we will have fewer chances to see the baby on ultrasound. It can kind of put our minds to rest- and we can know that our little muppet is happy and healthy inside me. So far we have listened to the baby's heart every night since getting the doppler!

Below is a recording Michael made of the baby's heart beating last night!

Just turn on your computers volume, & press the triangle button in the middle, to play it!

That thing is awesome! I don't have a volume thing at work right now, but when I get home, I will have to listen! Soooo nice that you can listen to it everynight and make sure the babe is doing okay:)

That's so cool. Now you can watch the baby (on the earlier post) and listen to it on this one. For anyone interested you can find more info on the baby doppler at www.storkradio.com. The model we rented is the Huntleigh D920 Fetal Doppler with 2MgHz Probe. Shannon got a good price from them on a 3 month rental, so it's actually quite reasonable. And it's so nice to hear the wee one's strong little heartbeat any time we want.
